Living in Clearfield
Located in the seasonally picturesque Pennsylvania Wilds region, Clearfield County is a natural 鈥渕elting pot鈥 of cultures because of its colorful mining and lumber history, resulting in a multitude of annual local festivals and events to celebrate the area's different ethnic and cultural traditions.
As the county鈥檚 first incorporated borough, there鈥檚 a wealth of historical landmarks from the late 1800s in Clearfield such as scores of historic homes and buildings, specialty shops and stores. Witmer Park, a community park home to music events throughout the year, and the beloved River Front Festival in the summer, lies along the West Branch of the Susquehanna River.
Active travelers will enjoy any of the county鈥檚 six golf courses for spring, summer, and fall enjoyment. Wine lovers will be pleased to stop just outside of Clearfield to visit one of the 10 wineries on the Groundhog Wine Trail, which starts in northern Pennsylvania and winds its way through the area that Punxsutawney Phil calls home.
